black;">in collaboration with the Italian NGO Crocevia, started to carry out this project on march 2006.</span><br> <span style="color: black;">Its overall objective is to contribute improving the quality of Palestinian education and building innovative capacities in Palestinian schools.</span><br> <span style="color: black;">Also the project aims at introducing active and participative learning approaches through practical activities.</span><br> <span style="color: black;">The project, three years long, is targeting teachers and school principals of Palestinian schools in the districts of Jenin, </span><st1:city><st1:place><span style="color: black;">Nablus</span></st1:place></st1:city><span style="color: black;"> and </span><st1:city><st1:place><span style="color: black;">Hebron</span></st1:place></st1:city><span style="color: black;">.</span><br> &nbsp;<br> <span style="color: black;"><o:p></o:p>In each district 4 training courses will be carry out, by on specific subject of :</span><br> <span style="color: black;">Civic education and democracy</span><br> <span style="color: black;">Environmental education and awareness</span><br> <span style="color: black;">Cultural heritage</span><br> School culture's change. <br> <br> <o:p></o:p><span style="color: black;">360 teachers and principals will participate in the project, 120 from each justify;">Following the approval of the project, Almawrid has dedicated its effort to preparing training materials; four teams were working on developing theoretical content and training activities for each of intended training courses: school culture change, civic education, cultural heritage, and environment education.<br> Crocevia  s representatives mission to Ramallah on May 2006 was excellent opportunity to discuss and agree on the general action plan in addition to different micro-plans for specific actions and procedures for starting and implementing the project .<br> Coordination with Ministry of Education and Higher Education has been made through several meetings with the general director of training and supervision Mr. Tharwat Zeid, the general director of schools principals Mr. Samih Jabir, and the head of training department Mr. Zaher Atwa. Three schools, one in each district, has identified to be used as training center, training program and training time schedule have agreed on.<br> On <st1:date month="6" day="20" year="2006">June 20, 2006</st1:date>, Ms. Michela La Perna has been attended Almawrid s staff for assisting and following up implementation processes. <br> </div> <o:p><br> </o:p> <div style="text-align: center;"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p><b>Phase 2: July 2006<o:p></o:p></b> <br> <b>Needs Assessment for Training Centers<o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></b> <br> </div> <br> <div style="text-align: justify;">In order to identify equipments and facilities needed for well running training in the three Centers. Almawrid has conducted a need assessment for the three schools, through the process, Almawrid s staff visited<span style="">&nbsp; </span>the three schools, met and interviewed the heads of the schools.<br> Almawrid will provide each training center with necessary equipment; computers, projectors, TVs, videos, screens, digital and video cameras.
